We believe that an internship is a valuable part of learning about the creative industry as much as it is about developing practical skills and experiencing what it's like to be part of a bustling business. We look for candidates who are friendly, motivated, eager to learn, show attention to detail and have good communication skills. Two years of study required.

 

Textiles and Surface Pattern Work Placement

This Student Work Placement opportunity is very much practical based. We are looking for a you to work across a wide range of medias using a variety of techniques, requiring knowledgeable use of colour and texture.  Most of your time will be spent working on the Megan Crook Textiles bespoke accessories using multi fibres with hand embellishment and embroidery to create interesting surface patterns. We feel garments should look as good on the inside as they do on the outside so an emphasis will also be put on finishing and construction. In addition you will also be required to knit on the domestic knitting machines and opportunities to work with graphics and Photoshop, grading, pattern cutting and assisting with exhibitions should you choose.

 

Fashion & Textiles Internship

This internship is practical based working as a design and studio assistant to head designer, Megan Crook. She will be giving one to one tutorials throughout the placement. You may work on a variety of tasks and projects, including but not limited to: pattern cutting, grading and tracing, manufacturing and sampling, illustrating, developing concepts for new products, trend research, assisting with special projects such as commissions or developing upcoming collections for varying demographics and price points and assisting with photo shoots.

 

Mixed Media and Jewellery Design Internship

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the business for our very first Mixed Media and Jewellery Intern to join our ranks. The lucky candidate will have the task of working with multi fibres to work with us to create and launch our first ever collection of this type.

The internship will require the ability to competently create different compositions and require an excellent eye for colour, it will give you the opportunity to get involved with many aspects in launching the new collection, not just the production but also the marketing and design process as well. It is imperative that the successful candidate has experience working with resin.

 

PR and Marketing Internship

Some of the tasks for this placement might include: creating content for blog posts, social media, newsletters and press releases, designing online promotions and creating new product listings for our website or affiliate sites, doing market research and developing marketing campaigns, contacting editors or assisting with organising fashion shows and photoshoots. You will also have the opportunity to assist with exhibitions, product photography, photo editing, book keeping and admin should you choose. Confident writing skills are a must!

 

Please note all short term placements (3-6 months) are unpaid. The time invested into your training is extensive and we can not pay to teach you! Long term placements will be considered for paid piece work after a successful trial period. We do reimburse travel costs up to £10 per day to our premises in Derby city centre.
